En Noviembre de 2008 se localizo en Madrid una gaviota de 2º invierno que nos desconcertó, llegando a pensar que podría ser una gaviota de California (larus californicus). Tuvimos la gran suerte que regreso a Madrid los siguientes años y se pudo observar en sus diferentes fase de plumaje y ser identificada como muy posible híbrido de Gaviota de Delaware x Gaviota Sombría, ya de adulta la mancha negra del pico muestra incluso algo de rojo, esto se aprecia en algunas de las fotografías que ilustran esta entrada.
Con este ya son 9 años consecutivos que esta gaviota vista Madrid.

On November 2008 we sighted a 2º winter gull that can
not identify and in some moments we thought that could be a California Gull
(Larus californicus). We were lucky becouse this gull return to Madrid the
following years and could be observed at different phase plumage and be identified
as a provably hybrid Ring-billed Gull x Lesser Black-backed Gull (L.f.graellsii).
In some pictures shows even some red in the beak.
This is the 9th year in a row that this gull visit Madrid.
