One of the greatest shows that Nature offers us is the migration of birds, and some of the best places to enjoy it are the small islands that are in the Balearic archipelago. Birds that spend winter in Africa cross the Mediterranean sea and use the Balearic Islands as a resting and feeding point before continuing on their way to Europe. It is fascinating to sit on a small beach and see how the wheatears, warblers, Common Redstarts, Western Yellow wagtail and other small passerines arrive from the sea. The first thing they do is look for food, ignoring your presence and allowing you to watch them while they search for insects, seeds and even pollen if there are flowers nearby. The stops are usually brief since the instinct of reproduction tells them that they have to arrive to their breeding places as soon as possible.
