Gaviota Polar, Larus glaucoides, Iceland Gull

La Gaviota Polar presenta una distribución circumpolar y es un visitante raro en la Península Ibérica durante los meses de invierno, especialmente en la costa cantábrica y Galicia, en esta Comunidad es un invernante regular pero siempre en reducido número. La gran mayoría de aves que alcanzan la Península Ibérica son jóvenes o también llamados de primer invierno. En los últimos años se han comenzado a ver aves de la subespecie "kumlieni", predominado es este caso también aves de primer invierno

The Iceland Gull has a circumpolar distribution and is a rare visitor to the Iberian Peninsula during the winter months, especially in the Cantabrian and Galician coast, in this region is a regular winter visitor but always in small numbers. Most of the birds that reaching the Iberian Peninsula are young or so-called first winter. In recent years we start to see birds of the subspecies "kumlieni"  and also most of the birds are first winter.

Gavión Hiperboreo/Glaucous Gull

El Gavión Hiperboreo presenta una distribución circumpolar y es un visitante raro en la Península Ibérica durante los meses de invierno, especialmente en la costa cantábrica y Galicia, en esta Comunidad es un invernante regular pero siempre en reducido número. La gran mayoría de aves que alcanzan la Península Ibérica son jóvenes o también llamados de primer invierno.

Este primer invierno, es el que más ilusión me hizo fotografiar, ya que lo vi en en Colmenar Viejo, Madrid. Recuerdo que era un día de niebla y no me podía creer que estuviese viendo un Gavión Hiperboreo en Madrid. This picture of a first winter Glaucous Gull was the most excited picture that I took of this specie, because I saw him in Colmenar Viejo, Madrid. I remember it was a foggy day and I could not believe I was seeing a Glaucous Gull in Madrid.

Viaje al Cantábrico

A primeros de Enero fui a pasar unos días de vacaciones a Bilbao, aproveche para visitar algunas de las zonas interesantes para ver aves en la zona. Aquí os dejo una selección de algunas aves que pude fotografiar.

In early January I spend a few days traveling to the North of Spain, and of course I visited some of the interesting areas to bird watching in the area. Here you have a selection of some birds that I could photograph.

Somormujo Cuellirrojo, Podiceps griseigena

Estas vacaciones tuve la oportunidad de fotografiar el Somormujo Cuellirrojo que se sedimento en el puerto deportivo de Santoña.
El Somormujo Cuellirrojo en verano habita en lagos y laguna cuyas orillas se hallan cubiertas de vegetación. Es raro en el centro de Europa y más común en el Este, especialmente en aguas de la llanura del Volga. En invierno se le encuentra en lagos de tierras bajas, en lagunas y bahías marinas. En España es un visitante invernal muy escaso. La mayoría de las citas se producen en la cornisa cantábrica. Todas las fotografías están tomadas con la técnica del Digiscoping usando un Swarovski ATS 80 HD y una Nikon V1 con objetivo 10-30.

During this holiday I had the opportunity to take several pictures of this Red-necked Grebe that was in the sports port of Santoña, Santander, Spain. The summer necked Grebe inhabits in lakes and lake whose shores covered with vegetation. It is rare in central Europe and more common in the East, especially in the waters of the Volga plain. In winter it is found in lowland lakes, lagoons and marine bays. In Spain it is a scarce winter visitor. Most of the birds appear in the Cantabrian coast.

All pictures are taken with the digiscoping technique using a Swarovski ATS 80 HD and Nikon V1 with a 10-30 objective.
